Technology Specialists and Ward Members Help

The most simple way to connect to a sacrament meeting broadcast is through this site. In addition to automatically connecting you to the Zoom broadcast, it helps your ward clerk to account for everyone attending sacrament meeting.

Here's how you connect:

1. From the Home Page, Click Connect to my Ward Sacrament Meeting.
2. Choose your ward from the window that appears
3. In the section titled Worship with Us, enter your First and Last name in the name field and select how many are in attendance in the drop-down field.
4. Click Join Sacrament Meeting
5. Click Open in Zoom

You will be automatically connected to your ward sacrament meeting service.

If you are unable to connect to your ward sacrament meeting, please reach out to a member of your ward Bishopric. You may also reach out to our Stake Technology Specialist, Brother Hadley 801-388-5042 or Brother Penrod 801-458-6072. 

There are various reasons that a broadcast could pause or stop momentarily. When this happens, it is what is called buffering. Usually the broadcast will resume in a few short moments. If it does not resume in a few moments, exit the Zoom broadcast and join back in. If you have done this and are still experiencing difficulties, reach out to a member of your ward Bishopric or to our Stake Technology Specialist Brother Hadley 801-388-5042 or Brother Penrod 801-458-6072

During the Coronavirus Pandemic, Sunday School classes were held virtually by direction from the Area Presidency. In May 2021, Stake Presidents and Bishops were asked to transition to holding the full 2-hour schedule on Sunday by the Area Presidency. Our stake has made the transition to in-person classes. If you feel you are unable to come back to church in person fully, please reach out to your Sunday School President or the class or quorum president in your ward to discuss ways you may participate with your class or quorum. They will work with the Bishop in finding ways to help you participate.

One of the main purposes of this website is to make the process of joining a Zoom meeting much easier for you. There are two possible types of Zoom Meetings you can join on this website - Sacrament Meeting and Class or Quorum Meetings.

Joining Sacrament Meeting:

1. Go to the Home page.
2. Click the "Connect to my Ward Sacrament Meeting" button.
3. Choose your ward from the list that comes up.
4. In the section of your ward page labeled "Worship with Us", enter your name and how many are attending from home and click "Join Sacrament Meeting Online"

Joining Class or Quorum Meetings

As of May 2021, most wards are back to the 2nd hour meetings in person. As such, most wards have elected not to hold a Zoom meeting for these classes. If you are unable to attend your 2nd hour meetings, contact your Sunday School President or the Class or Quorum President to discuss options of how you might participate more fully.

Zoom has an incredible Video Tutorial of how to join a Zoom meeting. If you require further assistance, reach out to your ward technology specialist or one of the stake technology specialists for further assistance.

As a teacher, it is important for your Zoom Meetings to look and sound their best. In many cases, Zoom has already optimized the settings for a Zoom Meeting, but if you are planning on sharing multimedia content in your lesson, you will want to make sure your Zoom App has the following settings applied:

Video Settings:

1. Click on the Gear icon to open settings
2. Choose Video
3. Under the Camera heading, ensure "HD" is selected.

Audio Settings:

1. Click on the Gear icon to open settings
2. Choose Audio
3. Under the Music and professional audio category, click "Show in meeting option to enable 'Original Sound'"

With these settings enabled, you are ready to Start your Zoom meeting. Once the meeting has started, do the following:

1. In the upper left-hand corner, click "Turn on Original Sound"

With those settings, your Zoom app is configured to give the best possible experience for your students.

Break out rooms are a powerful tool when hosting an online meeting. They can be used in a classroom setting to have small groups work together to accomplish a specific task.

In the resource "Teaching in the Saviors Way", teachers are urged to invite "Diligent Learning". There are many ways this can be accomplished in Zoom, but break-out rooms are a powerful tool that can assist in that.

For Example, a small group could be asked to discuss a specific group of scriptures and then come back to the class to share what they have found.

Requirements: In order to use Break-out rooms, you must have a Professional or Enterprise version of Zoom. All of the ward accounts that the church purchased are Enterprise accounts.

Ideas for how Break-out rooms could be used. You are allowed to host to concurrent meetings with these accounts, meaning that two classrooms could share the same account at once and each of them do break-out rooms.

You can use break-out rooms like in the example I already shared. You may also use break-out rooms to host individual classrooms. For example, you could join your ward all together for Sunday School and then use Break-out rooms for each Sunday School class. The Break-out rooms would become it's own classroom. The teachers in the break-out room will be able to share their screen, etc. in the break-out room.

The ward zoom account is controlled by the Bishop. He will have the log-in information to use this account. Our Stake Technology Specialists will also have information about how to log in, however, they have been instructed to only share this info with a member of the ward bishopric. If the log-in information is changed by a member of the ward, this information needs to be shared with the stake technology specialists so they can support any issues you may be having with your account.
